The Garmin Nuvi 255 is much more than a navigation system. It helps you find you way around typing in the address or by clicking on images form Garmin Connect Photos. Nuvi 255 is ready to go out of the box. No need to installs maps since it is preloaded with a ton of destinations including maps of North America and Europe provided by City Navigator NT. It has 3D and 2D touch screen capabilities along with the ability to transition smoothly as the device redraws the screen. Nuvi also uses HotFix satellite to better triangulate your location so less chance of wrong directions. Improved eye-in-the-sky positioning goes hand in hand with voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions which the Nuvi 255 has installed. Your unit will speak road names and exits so your eyes stay on the road.
Your Garmin already comes with a great deal of points of interest, POI, but as an added bonus you can add your own. Imagine your Nuvi telling you where the red light cameras and school zones are before the police tell you. Just set them as a POI and travel with less worries. As an added safety feature the GPS has a "Where Am I" finder. You always know your location so you can direct emergency personnel to your location.
